Sarva Jal Abhiyan, an initiative by Delivering Change Foundation and Sakal Media Group, is finding great support in Ganesh pandals across Pune. The attractive, often larger-than-life displays usually seen at Ganesh pandals are exhibiting themes like water conservation and rainwater harvesting.
Karnaveer Mitra Mandal on Tilak road has created a complex structure, themed rainwater harvesting. It has also taken initiative to spread awareness through hoardings and flex-boards.Not only are they restricting themselves to displays, but are also undertaking the work on leaking pipelines in their area.
A Pimple Saudagar-based housing society, Roseland Residency, has displayed an affordable method to purify water, this Ganesh festival. The housing society has decorated its Ganesh idol with glass cylinders filled with water. Taking an inspiration from the Sarva Jal Abhiyan, they decided to go with a decor which highlights the crucial issue of water.
Sarva Jal abhiyan is an initiative for ‘water for all’ and works with an aim of bringing about a drought free Maharashtra in next five years.
