To promote citizen journalism and involve readers in contributing news reports, photos and videos or audios of happenings in the city, Sakal Media Group on Thursday launched the Sakal Samwad mobile application.
This app, meant specifically for the lakhs of readers of Sakal spread around the world, was launched by Sakal Media Group’s Chairman Pratap Pawar in the presence of Chief Editor Shriram Pawar and Director (Technology) Bhausaheb Patil, among others.
“It is time to come out of our comfort zone and embrace the latest technology which is going to take the media industry by storm,” Pratap Pawar said at the launch. “Media is undergoing massive digitisation. Social Media has become the preferred method of staying connected with the latest news. The future generation is likely to embrace the digital version of the current news system.”
He added that it is time to keep the readers as the central point and encourage them to contribute, which is what the Sakal Samvad App is aiming to achieve.
