Sakal Natyamahotsav gets huge response

Pune: Sakal Natyamahotsav kicked off on Tuesday, receiving a huge response on the very first day from Pune’s theatre lovers. Organised by Sakal Media Group, a series of plays will be hosted at Balgandharva Rang Mandir till June 5.

Starting in the series first was the famous musical play ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali’ which saw a huge audience. Sakal Natyamahotsav is powered by PN Gadgil, in association with 115 Hilltown, Pride Purple Group-Rama Group and Kohinoor Group. Banking partner is Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-operative Bank.

In the series of plays till June 5, Puneites can watch, ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’, Musical play ‘Sanshaykallol’, ‘Gela Udat’, ‘Karti Kaljat Ghusali’ and ‘Don Special’. The plays will be staged from 9.30 pm at Balgandharva Rang Mandir.

Kiran Thakur, Founder Chairman of Lokmanya Multipurpose Society Ltd said that dramas and plays are the legacy of Maharashtrian culture. “Such initiatives bring the people closer. Theatrics and drama are a part of our culture and hence, these different initiatives to engage the audience should be organised more often,” said Thakur. Sushil Jadhav, Zonal Manager of Lokmanya Multipurpose Society Ltd was also present on the occasion.

Shrikant Kuber, Head Admin of PN Gadgil and Sons said that the renowned jewellers have a deep connection with art. “PNG has taken various initiatives to encourage art. This initiative is just another way of taking this legacy forward. Maharashtrian culture and tradition is reflected in our designs as much as the plays that are organised,” said Kuber.
