Pune Navratrau Festival will honour Pratap Pawar, Chairman of Sakal Media Group with its annual Maharshi Award here on October 6. Former President Pratibha Patil will present the award at a function to be held at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch at 6 pm.
Pune Navratrau Festival President and former deputy mayor Aba Bagul said that the Maharshi Award is given every year to a veteran personality for doing extraordinary work in the society.
The earlier recipients of the award include Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj, sculptor B R Khedekar, Keertankar Baba Maharaj Satarkar, socialist leader Bhai Vaidya, former Union minister Mohan Dharia, scientists Dr Raghunath Mashelkar and Vijay Bhatkar.
Congress leader Ulhas Pawar will preside over the function.
