Pune: Pratap Pawar, Chairman, Sakal Media Group, has been selected for the Punyabhushan Award 2015. The annual award is presented by the Punyabhushan Foundation (Tridal-Pune).
Pawar’s name was selected for the award by a committee led by scientist Raghunath Mashelkar. The award carries a memento and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Punyabhushan Foundation’s President Satish Desai has said that the award will be presented at a function to be held in the city soon. Five freedom fighters will also be felicitated on the occasion.
The earlier recipients of the award include vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, industrialists SL Kirloskar and Rahul Bajaj, humourist PL Deshpande, Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, scientist Jayant Narlikar and actor Dr Shriram Lagoo.
