Under the Pune ‘Smart City’ initiative, the Pune District Co-operative Housing Federation pledged to work together with the Sakal Media Group (SMG) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on resolving issues like waste management system, traffic management, healthcare management, water management and many more.
The Delivering Change Foundation (DCF) in association with the Sakal Media Group working and the Pune Municipal Corporation, aims at a greater participation from citizens to transform Pune into a ‘Smart City’. In this regard, a meeting with top officials of the Pune District Co-operative Housing Federation was arranged to discuss future developmental plans. The meeting was attended by Mr. Shrikant Kulkarni, Chairman, Mr. Vikas Chalunjkar, Executive, Adv Sachin Hingnekar, Co-executive, Mr. Shivdas Salunke, Secretary and other federation members.
Mr. Rohit Tambe, trustee of the federation, explained the role that will be played by them in giving inputs on making Pune a ‘Smart City’. The work will include handling Government affairs, infrastructural development and environmental development. Mr. Ramesh Chanadankar presented a demonstration on handling waste management and garbage related problems prevailing in the city.
Mr. Suresh Thathe said, “All the societies should be digitally upgraded so the problems faced by the inhabitants can be solved easily”. He also feels that a representative of the federation should be appointed in the legislative council.
Mr. Mangesh Gupte suggested that Pune should be henceforth known as a ‘Solar city’ and a ‘Healthy city’. He further said that strong public transport is the only solution to traffic congestion.
