Puneites have made a resolution to implement the concept of ‘Smart City’ successfully by keeping aside all political differences during the ‘Simply Smart’ programme organized by the Sakal Media Group (SMG) & Delivering Change Foundation (DCF).
On this occasion, Mr. Zohar Sharon, Chief Knowledge Officer, Tel Aviv Municipality, made a detailed presentation about the efforts taken by them to transform Tel Aviv into a Smart City. Tel Aviv was recently awarded the title of ‘World’s Smartest City’ for being able to engage with citizens and ensure their active participation in the city’s development.
Sharon gave various suggestions to elected representatives and bureaucrats about ways to transform Pune into a Smart City. During the programme, people also voiced the need to make efforts to ensure that Pune features in the first 20 list of selected Smart Cities.
The event was graced by prominent figures such as Mr. Abhijit Pawar, Managing Director, Sakal Media Group; Mr. Girish Bapat, Guardian Minister, Pune District; Mr. Kunal Kumar, Pune Municipal Commissioner; Mr. Rajeev Jadhav, Municipal Commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad and many more.
Bapat said, “Transforming Pune into a Smart City is not just the responsibility of the administration, but of all of us. For this, it is important to keep all political differences aside and work in a united manner. The Tel Aviv model will definitely guide us in this process.”
On the occasion, Mr. Abhijit Pawar emphasized that the programme ‘Simply Smart’ is not a platform for the Sakal Media Group, but a sincere effort towards making Pune into a Smart City. “Sakal had organized the Pune Bus Day that focused on the solutions needed to solve the problem of traffic congestion in the city,” said Pawar.
